“How well do your touch screens work with Linux?” is a question we get very often. While the short answer is always “perfectly!” there is more than one way to support and align our touch screens with Linux operating systems, and which to choose often depends on the particular circumstances of a given application. In this article we will provide a high level overview of some of the more common methods for supporting Linux.
New Combined Conduit / Compression Gland Cable Exit Plate
We are pleased to announce the availability of our combined Conduit/Compression Gland Cable Exit Plate. This new option provides our rugged, fully-sealed conduit option (generally used between our Universal Mount Display and an enclosure or pedestal) with the flexibility of our Compression Gland for connecting nearby peripherals like a barcode scanner or mouse.
New 19.5″ 1080p Widescreen Industrial Monitors and Touch Screens
We are happy to introduce our new line of 19.5″ widescreen industrial monitors and touch screens. Complementing our existing 22″ and 23″ wide screen displays, these new models bring full 1080p (1920×1080) resolution in a compact 19″ screen format.
Comparing Compression Gland Cable Exit Plate Options
All Hope Industrial Universal Mount Monitors are fully enclosed and feature a standard cable exit interface to allow the cables to exit the display enclosure while maintaining an IP/NEMA-rated seal.
Since every customer’s mounting requirements are different, we provide a variety of cable exit plate options including compression glands, conduit, and blank cover plates (with pre-drilled pilot holes).
New Floor Stand Options Create Free-Standing Pedestal Workstations
Since their release nearly 15 years ago, our Industrial Monitor Pedestal Mounts have been one of our most popular display mounting options. Combined with an industrial touch screen, keyboard, and PC Enclosure, the pedestal base allows placement of a full HMI workstation anywhere on the factory floor.
Heat Testing Intel NUCs: i5-Based NUC6I5SYH and i3-Based NUC5i3MYHE
Many of our customers have found industrial applications for the Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) line of small form factor PCs. While these units do not have many of the features usually associated with industrial designs (no legacy I/O, no case heat sinks), the fact that they are very small, relatively low cost, and only sip power make them appealing in some situations.
New Industrial Monitors and Accessories for Hazardous Locations
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) was invited to test our Hazloc-rated displays, Keyboards, and monitor-mounted KVM Extenders for Class I, II, and III, Division 2 hazardous locations and Type 12/4/4X environments (Type 1 for Rack Mount Displays) and we are pleased to report that we now offer 182 industrial products that are rated by UL for hazardous locations!
